Doctor Who Video Mash-Up Possibilities

Okay Internet, I have zero video-editting capabilities on my computer and I also do not have access to a wide range of Doctor Who video clips, so I’m throwing this out there to provide you with inspiration. You can use this inspiration as you see fit, but if you do make something as a result of this inspiration just, um, you know, link back to this post on my blog please.  Thanks.

Someone needs to make Doctor Who mash-ups to the following two songs:

The first one is pretty obvious–Justin Timberlake‘s “Suit and Tie.”  So many possibilities for the 10th and 11th Doctors, right?

I actually love this song, it makes me want to dance and such.   And I think it’d provide a great backdrop to a montage of Doctor/Companion shenanigans.  But mostly I am just thrilled that Justin Timberlake is making music again–the world is a better place, yeah?

So the second video that must happen is 11th Doctor specific, and this is also an amazing song, one of my favorites really:

OutKast‘s “Bowtie” guys!  Come on, guys, this is such a no-brainer right?  Lots of Matt Smith, adjusting his bowtie, all “Bowties are cool,” being a double-hearted pimp in the TARDIS.

Someone make this happen please just, yeah, give me credit, thanks.

2 Days to Dragon*Con: Making the Wait Go More Quickly

How are you doing with the wait, guys?  This whole going to work thing is not easy, especially because I have a number of major deadlines at work this week and I need to get them all done by Wednesday, so I am incredibly busy and really, I just want to look at Dragon*Con stuff and think about Dragon*Con and talk about Dragon*Con.

So here are some of the things I am doing to mitigate the anticipation:
1)  This blog (duh).  Having a place to count the days is certainly helpful!

2) Big giant happy smiley faces scrawled all over Labor Day Weekend on my calendar.

3) Playing with the Dragon*Con iPhone app, lots and lots.

4)  Eyeing the 2012 Dragon*Con photo scavenger hunt list and trying to figure out where to find all these things–my two big person win photographs from last year were running into Dr. Stephen Granade and finding Timmy the ThinkGeek Monkey.

7)  Listening to this podcast on repeat.  So many bands that I liked from my band profling are in it!  CalabreseEgo LikenessI: ScintillaDie SektorCruxshadows!  A really good song by The Extraordinary Contraptions!  So exciting, and a great way to get hyped for Con!

8) Packing (ungh).

9) Futzing with the last little bits of my costumes and my wigs and my makeup and my accessories.

10) Excitedly waiting to go pick up my Melisandre dress!

Again, those are just a few things that are keeping me sane until Thursday morning comes and I can get on the road to Atlanta.  How are you managing these last few days before Dragon*Con?

8 Days to Dragon*Con: Band Profile, Eryn Woods

EIGHT DAYS Y’ALL!!!   So excited I can hardly stand it.  And we’ve reached the end of our band profiles!  I know these haven’t been the most insightful musical analyses of all time, but hopefully they have given you an idea of who the bands are, what they sound like, and how to tell all the Steampunk bands apart (probably less successful on that account).  I know who I want to see D*Con weekend (Calabrese, Cruxshadows, Freezepop, I: Scintilla, Valentine Wolfe etc.) and, uh, who I don’t want to see.  How is your band list looking for the weekend?

So, onto the last band profile: Eryn Woods, who has an amazing red mohawk.

Look at her!  She’s totally hot.  And her music is totally great.

Ahhhh that was fun and filmed at Dragon*Con and I actually remember seeing them during the parade and being like: “Who are these dumb bitches in dumb clothes just dancing alongside the parade?  They totally suck!”  Now I feel like a total bitch because they were clearly just filming their video, duh.  But those leopard-print leggings are still sort of dumb.  Actually, leggings in general are just dumb–is that trend over yet?

I like the cute squeaky little voice, I totally do.  I’d dance to this so much you guys.

Her face really is quite striking–this is more of a clubby song, but I WOULD STILL DANCE TO IT.

Eryn Woods is great!  According to her Dragon*Con profile her music has been on hilarious MTV/VH1 shows like Jersey Shore and Mob Wives, and she has also performed for (maybe opened for?) ROBYN.  WHO I LOVE.  Need we revisit the “Call Your Girlfriend” phase of my life?  We must, oh yes we must:

Man, Robyn should come to Dragon*Con.

Okay, Eryn Woods talking points:

–Red mohawk

–Pop pixy princess but sort of punk but very squeaky in a good way

–DANCEY DANCE DANCE.

Two thumbs WAY UP.  So pleased to end the band profiling on a POSITIVE note!  I hope y’all enjoyed this series–is end means that Dragon*Con is just thatmuchcloser!!!

10 Days to Dragon*Con: Band Profile, Warchild

I’m too tired from the work week (I write these things ahead of time, it is currently Saturday and I am still recovering from a sixteen hour day yesterday) to think of anything witty to start with for Warchild, so I’ll just give you their Dragon*Con profile:

“Warchild is an Atlanta based rock band with a new sound and new idea. Fronted by Steven Warchild who has been quoted as saying “We have something to say not just something to show.” Warchild has a sound that stays with you and a devoted cult following with fans from all around the world.  With two full length CD‘s out that have sold over 12,000 copies and a third on the way it’s easy to see why fans are excited for future. For more information on the band, visit http://www.officialwarchild.com.”

Man, I hope they are a heavy metal band.  Their lead singer, Steven Warchild, totally looks like he’d be a metalhead.  Shall we see?

Eh, kind of metal?  Kind of emo?  Very music video set in New Orleans.

Sort of um, a less interesting, less good version of A Perfect Circle, maybe?  I only have one of their albums by the way, so maybe that isn’t the best comparison.

All the other hits when I search “war child” on youtube are like, sad documentaries of people from Sudan.   And I’m not really digging the music (OR THE LONG HAIR I just don’t get long hair on guys.  Keep it like, Thor or Loki length or shorter people for serious).

Talking points:

–Warchild is a band, not a documentary about Sudanese child soldiers.

–Sort of sounds like A Perfect Circle.

–Lead singer has long hair.

No thumbs.  Don’t think I’ll be tracking them down at Dragon*Con.
